WHO WE ARE

Entre refers to a state of being, a space that exists between positions or identities (be it race, gender, ethnicity, class, sexuality, etc.) Many queer, Latina/o/x/e individuals (though not exclusively) may find themselves residing in this space, a type of "nepantla" (the Náhuatl word for "land between") in which they may struggle to reconcile their inbetweeness with a modern/colonial world that is hyper-fixated on labels and parameters surrounding identity.

Entre Magazine is a communal platform for the residents of this unstable, transformative between to share their voices and their experiences through their art; it is a response to the need within the greater literary and academic communities to bring visibility to these artists, to empower them to express their hybridity and fluidity with the world.

Entre Magazine's premiere issue is scheduled to launch in May, and is thereafter planned to release biannually (a submission period in the fall for a spring release, and a submission period in the spring for a subsequent fall release). If you are interested in submitting your work to be considered for Entre, we encourage you to visit our submissions page! While the magazine is primarily for queer and/or Latina/o/x/e artists, we accept works from all artists whose works interrogate and explore the inbetweenness of identity.

RAY PÁRAMO | FOUNDING EDITOR

Ray Páramo (he/him) is a gay Chicano graduate student and writer based in north Orange County (Tongva land) in Southern California. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in English from California State University, Long Beach. He founded Entre as a response to the scarcity of platforms for queer Latina/o/x/e artists like himself to share their experiences; he hopes that Entre will contribute to our furthered understanding and deconstruction of the colonial ideas of identity.
